Raves
Like I said, this is the my lists of the list of things I like ... let's get started, shall we?
Tributes
I'm not one to be overly mushy about people, especially when they are just doing what they are supposed to be doing. BUT, sometimes, you just hafta say good job! So, here's my first tribute (although, I didn't write it, it was sent to me) in honour of Black History Month, and technically, I guess, Presidents' Day!
Favourite Places ... so far
It has been previously established that I love camping at the Acres (see Play) ... but here are few other places where I could just stay awhile ...
Boulder, CO |
I love Colorado in general, but, Boulder may quite possibly be one of the most beautiful places anyone could could choose to live. I lived there nearly ten years and still wake up some mornings asking myself 'what were thinking when you decided to leave?' If you get out west, check it out. After I get my pix all scanned, I'll show you what I mean.
|
Toronto, ON |
Now, for a person who does not like large cities, and I am such a person, just hate'em, I'd stay in Toronto in a heartbeat. Very cool city, very cool people. I'd show you pictures of my Toronto trip but they were destroyed in a house fire.

Jamaica
Pick a place |
WOW! While I really enjoyed the beaches and that crystal clear water — tho, it's a little creepy seeing the fishes in the water, I really, really, really enjoyed being in the mountains. Here are some of my pictures from Jamaica!
|
Other Cool Places
Well, if you saw my map of places I've been, you know that I marked a few places that I really liked. Now, I'm gonna tell ya why ...
San Antonio, TX |
Went to San Antonio to see my daughter graduate from bootcamp at Lackland AFB and I really enjoyed the sites and the weather was perfect (but it was December — don't know if I'd want to do summer there). River Walk is very cool and so was The Alamo (which, oddly enough, is in the middle of downtown San Antonio across the street from a mall). Two thumbs down — all those damn birds, it's creepy and the fact that the military believes that everything should start at stupid o'clock in the morning.
|
Santa Cruz, CA |
Boulder by the beach! I loved it. Simply beautiful. Was in SF, it's nice, but like I said, I'm not a big fan of large cities.
|
Newport, OR And surrounding areas |
Saw my first anemone and sand dollar. Went camping in the woods next to the ocean, awesome. Rode dune buggies on the beach, totally AWESOME! Saw Keiko (the whale that played in Free Willy—poor thing), very cool indeed. Even, something called a Wolf Eel ... interesting.
Other parts of Oregon worth seeing ... Multnomah Falls—eye-candy! Stay away from The Dalles, that's my only warning! Watch your ears on the Gorge and stay as far away from the runaway truck lane as possible.
|
Upstate New York |
Been to the city many times, it's nice. Again, not a big fan of large cities. BUT, upstate is absolutely gorgeous.
|
Bryce Canyon, UT |
WOW!

Music
Hmm, what can I say about music ... I love it, I listen to it all day long ... preferably commercial free music. I like Techno, Heavy Metal, Classic Rock, Punk Rock, P-Funk, Jazz, Chill, House, Alternative Rock (though I never figured out what it's an alternative to), Classical (no Opera please), Reggae, Reggaeton, and even Country (only the new stuff, the old stuff makes me ill). I'll go into favourite performers later, in the meantime, here is my current playlist ...

Movies
I watch a lot of movies — mostly sci-fi/fantasy, old movies, comedies, action/adventure, kids movies, some foreign movies (I don't mind reading a movie), dramas and thrillers (though not a big fan of the horror movie), even the occasional rom-com. I much prefer movies to TV, no commercials. Someone recently asked me what my top ten all-time favourite movies are; the first three I did right off the top of my head, as to the rest, I said I'd get back to them. It's hard to choose from so many, BUT, I'm narrowing it down ... here's what I got so far.
|
Arsenic & Old Lace (1944) Cary Grant, Josephine Hull, Jean Adair, John Alexander, Boris Karloff, Peter Lorre and Priscilla Lane — Directed by Frank Capra
This is one of the funniest, if not THE funniest, movies of all-time. |
|
The Women (1939) Norma Shearer, Joan Crawford, Rosalind Russell, Paulette Goddard, Joan Fontaine, Lucile Watson, Mary Boland, Marjorie Main, Phyllis Povah, Ruth Hussey, Virginia Weilder and Hedda Hopper. — Directed by George Cukor |
|
The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, Billy Gray and Sam Jaffe — Directed by Robert Wise
The movie that started my love for SciFi. |

Damn! This is hard ... I'm gonna hafta think about this some more |

TV
Though I really don't watch a lot of TV now, I have watched a lot of TV. My biggest problem with TV, of course, is commercials — not to say I don't understand the need for commercials, I just don't really want to bothered with them in the middle of a show. Hell, used to be, sometimes the commercials were better than the show you were watching, but now all the commercials are for the next *reality* show they have coming soon or Cialis or that crazy bitch who wants you to have a happy period. Anyhoo, here's what I'll watch when I watch TV ...
Books
I know it's hard to believe that with all my movie and TV viewing that I find time to read ... I love reading. While I spend a lot time reading technical stuff and information, it's my leisure reading that gives me the most pleasure. I picked up the habit a long time ago, back when there were only five TV channels and PBS. And, even in these modern times of the Kindle and such, I see no need to break the habit of curling up with a good book. Now, you ask, what do I read for fun? Oh, come on, you know the answer to this one — mostly sci-fi and fantasy. Let's start with two of my favourite authors ...
|
Stephen King
I'll read damn near anything written by Stephen King. Absolute favourite: The Stand
|
|
Anne Rice
Again, I'll read damn near anything written by Anne Rice. Absolute favourite: Interview with the Vampire
|
Here are some of my favourite books ... thinking about this is almost as bad as trying to figure out my top-ten favourite movies ... almost ...
Here are few that I've read recently, I'm not sure if they make the favourites list ... I'll let you know when I've read them again.
Well, that's all for now ... keep in touch to see what happens next!
