RantsHere are a few things that just chap my hiney ... for now we are going to start with one ... 2010 CensusPeople, I urge you to make our government stop the racial profiling known as the Census. They say the Census is designed to help communities receive more than $400 billion in funds each year for things like hospitals; job training centers; schools; senior centers bridges, tunnels and other-public works projects; and emergency services. Sounds like a noble cause, doesn't it. If this is what the census is really about, please explain to me why it contained the following questions ...
The only justifiable questions on this thing are Questions 6 and 7. Does the government really need to know if I am Latino or not, or Asian or not to provide me with aforementioned services they say the census is for? Do they really? And, they really want this information, the website for the census states that everyone in the country is required to answer the census regardless of legal residential status — further, their answers on the census can't be used against them by any government agency or court. But, since we can't trust our government to look out for our best interests, why should we trust them with this? |
